Hiking trilogy in Allgäu – A trio in harmony with nature
Look forward to a unique network of paths which link the diverse landscapes of Allgäu with their fascinating history.
To travel with no fixed goal in mind – just to be on the move; to lose oneself in the sagas, myths and beauty of a remarkable region. By following the hiking trilogy in Allgäu, history can be discovered on foot. Above all, it can be experienced directly: at three altitudes, along three routes and in nine theme areas. They can be combined flexibly depending on your degree of fitness and interests. From the landscape of hills and terraces you can cross the Alpine foothills into the rugged peaks of the high mountains. This scenic variety is linked together by three routes. On the “Meadow Walkers’ Route” you can stroll across verdant pastures, gentle hills and mystic marshland; on the “Watercourse Route” you will be accompanied by imposing waterfalls and countless lakes; and on the “Route to the Top” you can conquer the magnificent peaks of the Allgäu Alps. En route you will pass through areas devoted to special themes and their gateway towns and stopovers will lead you ever deeper into the history of Allgäu. The region was once formed by three glaciers. They created three altitudes, three routes and a million reasons to be amazed. So why not set out on an unusual discovery tour. The Allgäu cycling circuit – Around the prettiest corners
A different kind of cycling route, without a beginning or an end. Instead it offers 450 kilometres filled with exciting stories and picturesque scenery. Cycling can be even more fun – following the Allgäu cycling circuit.
Germany’s scenic long-distance cycle route passes through six districts in Bavaria, neighbouring Baden-Württemberg and Tyrol. However, it does not lead in a straight line from place to place and from town to town. Instead, kilometre by kilometre you will find yourself immersed in eight fascinating settings based on the exciting stories, famous people and impressive landscapes of Allgäu.
It takes you past world-famous sights like Neuschwanstein Castle and the birthplace of Sebastian Kneipp. Apart from all these impressions, of course the Allgäu cycling circuit is actually about cycling. And that should be as pleasant as possible. You can compile your own favourite route according to your personal requirements from a total of nine variations.
More than 50 railway stations along the route, a number of e-bike rental depots and battery-changing stations as well as a luggage shuttle ensure additional enjoyment. And on that subject: of course the excellent Allgäu cuisine forms the highlight of any cycling tour. Gourmet meals, a good night’s sleep and sweet dreams of the next stage – what better way to end the day? Read more under www.radrunde-allgaeu.de
